2012 MLB Wild Card Preview

National League
Cardinals @ Braves, 4:07 PM CT on TBS

The defending champs face off against the team they passed on the final day of the regular season last year in Atlanta, to determine which team will face the Nationals in the division series. Pitching matchup favors Atlanta, who pitches Kris Medlen, who has been sensational this year, going 10-1, with a 1.57 ERA. Give me Chipper Jones and the Braves to advance.

American League
Orioles @ Rangers, 7:37 PM CT on TBS
It was shocking the way the Rangers blew the AL West, losing their five of their final six games. The good news is that they have the opportunity to still make it to their third straight World Series, beginning with a win tonight over the surprising Orioles, who went from 90 losses to the playoffs behind a well-balanced lineup led by center fielder Adam Jones. They have a tough matchup tonight, though, with Yu Darvish facing Josh Saunders, who has struggled this season. Look for the Rangers to salvage their season, and advance, while the Orioles wrap up an outstanding season while looking toward next year.
