Angels Land Albert Pujols

Money may not grow on trees, but it sure does buy baseball players. The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim broke the bank early this morning, signing superstar 1B Albert Pujols for an insane 10 years, $254 million. Pujols, the face of the St. Louis Cardinals, and three-time NL MVP, will now be guaranteed that ridiculous sum of money until he turns 42 years old in 2021.

The deal came largely as a shock, because it was thought that Pujols was deciding between two teams, the Miami Marlins and his hometown Cardinals. In the end, 50 million more dollars, convinced Pujols to start anew out in Anaheim, and follow my hometown Astros to the AL West.

Later in the day, the Angels signed top free agent southpaw C.J. Wilson for five years, $77.5 million.
