Djokovic Wins Australian Open

It was never in doubt in Melbourne early this morning U.S. time, as #3 ranked Novak Djokovic beat #5 Andy Murray in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2, 6-3 to win the 2011 Australian Open and his second career major.

The Serbian's only other Grand Slam title was also the Australian in 2008. After falling to Rafael Nadal most recently at the 2010 U.S. Open Final, Djokovic's road to this final was helped when he saw #1 Rafael Nadal get hurt and fall to #7 David Ferrer in the quarterfinals. The next day, Djokovic upset #2 Roger Federer in the semifinals and became the favorite.

This morning he played like it, as the Scottish Murray never stood a chance in his third ever Grand Slam final. Murray, 23, carrying the weight of 75 years without a singles major title for Britain, lost his other two finals to Roger Federer in heart-breaking fashion and was never comfortable or in it today.

  3. Nice. Rafa is suffering from an adductor longus rupture of the left leg. Not too serious since he only needs 10 days of recovery. He is supposed to play at the CLASH OF THE TITANS (March 8) and Davis Cup (March 4-6). Be on the look out my friends tis' the season for good tennis
