2013 MLS Cup Playoffs: Knockout Round

Tonight, the 2013 MLS Cup Playoffs begin, with the knockout round.

Third year of this play-in game, with the winners of each moving on to a home-and-home with the top seeds from each conference.

Western Conference
Tonight: (5) Colorado Rapids @ (4) Seattle Sounders 9:30 PM CT NBCSN
Colorado did it with youth this year, with rookies Deshorn Brown, Dillon Powers, and goalkeeper Clint Irwin leading the way. Meanwhile, Seattle, who made the big splash this summer by signing U.S. international Clint Dempsey, have been up and down.
Pick: Experienced Sounders win easily, and set up a juicy semifinals match-up with the Timbers.
Eastern Conference
Thursday: (5) Montreal Impact @ (4) Houston Dynamo 7:30 PM CT NBCSN
Montreal led the Eastern Conference for most of the season, behind an amazing attack featuring Marco di Vaio and Felipe, but cooled off late in the season to drop into this play-in game. Meanwhile, my hometown Dynamo also were up and down, but clinched their 7th playoff berth in 8 years despite scoring only 41 goals (15th in the league).
Pick: My Dynamo have really struggled to score at times this year, but I think they can find those breakthrough moments in this game at home to advance to play NY.
